This module allows you to improve your search engine rankings by changing your simple file sitemap.xml in a Sitemap index pointing to sitemaps specific to the language and the type of page to reference.
Type of pages:
- default (main url: index, promotions, shops, contact us...)
- products
- categories
- CMS
- manufacturers
- suppliers
The fact of having a single sitemap implies that all the URLs of pages and images are in a single very large file (several MB) and very long to load that will occupy the server unnecessarily and you may exceed the limit of the 50.000url imposed by google.
50,000 url seem you unattainable? be aware that a simple prestashop store 1.4 with 100 products in 5 languages and 5 images per products gives a sitemap of almost 3 MB and 7000url (and Yes, for only 100 products!)
This module will therefore create multiple sitemaps that will be visited by google faster, your bandwidth overload is avoided.This will also allow you to better detect problems in your store: If you make an update of your shop or you add languages product pages with the new languages will be not referenced and you can follow the process of SEO by google by file type and language, which is impossible with one big file.
The module is also designed to be used in CRON job, so you can update the sitemaps and the Sitemap index regularly.
